Educational systems often provide both academic preparation and access to health and social services. Particularly in fragile settings with political instability and large migrant communities, it is increasingly urgent for researchers to engage with local communities and examine the roles that school systems play in impacting mental and physical health.
Dr. Kathy Pike, along with colleagues Dr. Sabrina Hermosilla and Dr. Brigitte Khoury, presented at the 2021 National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research Unit on Health in Situations of Fragility (RUHF) Symposium. Their study aims to examine the relationship between education and health among school-aged children and the social connections or resources that exist for children in Lebanon.
